LI QI

Composer Li Qi

Born in 1990 in Beijing, China, LI Qi (pronounced as “Lychee”) is a PhD student in music composition and theory at Brandeis University. She obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She is the top award winner of the 2017 ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards/the ASCAP Foundation Leo Kaplan Award. Her works have been performed by numerous professional ensembles including China Philharmonic Orchestra, China Film Symphony Orchestra, Aspen Contemporary Ensemble, Sound Icon, Loadbang, Ekmeles, Quatuor Arod, Byrne:Kozar:Duo, Quartetto di Chitarre ÁPEIRON among others. Her including Philharmonie de Paris, the National Centre for Performing Arts (“the Egg”) in Beijing, Aspen Music Festival and School, Composers Conference at Wellesley College, and so on.

Her recent works are focused on multimedia and computer-generated sounds and visuals, such as Tide of Tears (live TouchDesigner generated visuals synchronized with live music and electronics) and multimedia installation Isolation.
